When you are in the Mississippi Delta, everyone should take a trip to the Grand Daddy of Mississippi Barbecue, Abe's Bar-B-Q in Clarksdale. Pecan-Smoked goodness smothered in a family tradition since 1924. Abe's Bar-B-Q is the oldest continuously operated BBQ Joint in the State. These fine folks have seen the progress and changes happening over the years just looking out their big front window on the world at The Crossroads.

Abe's Bar-B-Q was originally named the "Bungalow Inn" and was located at 4th and Florida in Clarksdale, founded by Abraham Davis. After World War I, the restaurant moved to its present location at the famous Crossroads of Highways 61 and 49. In 1960, owner Pat Davis, Sr. renamed his place after his father Abraham and now this bar-b-q drive in is know as Abe's Bar-B-Q. It is here at the Crossroads where they share their fame with the Legendary Bluesman Robert Johnson. There is ample reading available to learn the story, now that nearly all available knowledge is delivered to us on a smart phone or computer. You will quickly realize that everybody that's anybody in the music business worldwide has made their pilgrimmage to Clarksdale and once there, will amble in to Abe's Bar-B-Q to contemplate their fate over a meal of signature Delta cuisine.

Famous folks and regular people from all over the world enjoy the famous barbecue pork and beef, hot tamales and ribs served at Abe's. Big names like ZZ Top, Paul Simon, Big Jack Johnson, Charlie Pride dine here when they travel or perform near Clarksdale. BBQ enthusiasts and Pit Masters alike come to eat and visit, hoping to pick up just one secret that they can take with them to make their home cooking and competition efforts just that much better. Abe's has won fans all over the U.S. and ships its famous barbecue sauce to new customers daily. Abe's Bar-B-Q also caters parties of all sizes, from small downhome gatherings to the largest, most elegant affairs.

Fourth generation Pit Master Samuel Davis now chiefs the competition cooking team "The Butt Stops Here" crew and uses the historic Abe's smoker that sits just outside the restaurant. Keeping the traditions and methods of his great-grandfather and grandfather alive is meaningful to the Davis family. The satisfaction on Samuel's face, as he brings slabs of BBQ Ribs off the grill, let's you know the pecan-smoked goodness cooked in to these ribs is world class.
